The rotisserie has been used since ancient times and was the most common way of preparing meat dishes for large families in those days; in rich medieval houses there was even a special servant whose job was to rotate the spit roast.
The first attempts to create a mechanical spit that would not have to be rotated by hand date back to the 15th century. For quite a long time – until the beginning of the 19th century, in England – special spit dogs were used, placed in a squirrel wheel, the rotation of which was then transferred to a spit roaster.
This rotisserie, however, is completely electric, so no need of anything else. Rotation speed and height are both adjustable. Its motor can be powered via an outlet or by batteries.
